The history of typefaces goes long back to the 15th century. Inspired initially by the handwritten notes and letters of individuals, the western font soon was picked up and modified or invented by newspapers or magazine groups like Broadway, New York Times and many more to name.
It soon became popular among the major IT giants when Apple and Microsoft developed few of the western fonts and added it to their list.
Every time we see a poster, any logo, comic book page, etc., we are either captured by the attractive images or the self-defining fonts. Fonts not only convey messages but using the right font can convey the very emotions, attitude and tone of the information posted.

IFC Insane Rodeo
This western font was designed by Anton Krylov and is free for personal use. It supports only the TrueType Font Format.
Rawhide Font Family
The rawhide font family was designed by Patrick Griffin and published by Canada Type in 2006. This old west font was inspired by wild west cartoons and comics and specifically from the 1970’s film type called Yippie.
The font can accommodate more than 20-Latin based languages and supports up to 2 typefaces which include one OpenType font format and other is a legacy format of Windows TrueType. The country font can support more than 74 languages.
Oldways Font
This is one of the old west fonts which combines western typography with modern style. It was designed and released by Artimasa Studio. The free western font is available in two typeface styles: regular and italic.
Since available free for both commercial and personal purposes, it can be used in designing business cards, logos, advertising, flyers, posters or blogs and websites and many more.
Muchacho Free Font
Muchacho free font was designed by Jeff Schreiber and consists of all capital letters, numbers and the most number of punctuation marks.
This western style font is related to Gringo typeface and consists of 103 glyphs. It is available free for personal use.
Barletta Vintage Serif Font
This old western font can be used to make vintage logos, posters, website designs, magazines etc. It includes six styles and supports multiple languages.
It has an OpenType font format. The font was designed by Rezadesign in 2018.
Handriona Script Font
One of the free western fonts is Handriona script designed by Rastype. It features Opentype stylistic alternates, ligatures and supports many western languages.
It supports both OpenType and TrueType font formats.
Parkson Sans Font Family
This old western font is inspired by the grotesque fonts of the 19th century. It is considered to be one of the best condensed sans serif collection of fonts and comes in seven weights.
This is unique in the sense that each font is made of 221 glyphs and supports a wide range of languages. This old west font is designed by Greg Nicholls in 2018 and is available for free for personal use.
Gunslinger
Gunslinger is created by Kevin Christopher(KC) and published by KC Fonts in 2012. It is one of the free western fonts available for personal use.

Confetti western is an old western style font which was created by Chequered Ink in 2017 and is free for personal use. It is classified under Celtic Irish, Fancy, Gothic and Western styles.

Button Shield Calligraphy Font
Button Shield calligraphy font is a script font family which is created by Ketikata std in 2019. It is classified under two styles namely, calligraphy and script and is free for personal use.
It features Ligatures and Swashes which makes the text pop. The feature includes Button Shield OTF, Button Shield TTF and Button Shield Swash TTF.
It also includes multilingual support, stylistic set and alternates, OpenType features, numbers and punctuations, standard uppercase and lower alphabet and PUA encoded.
It is a unique handwritten brush font and can be used for prints, quotes, logos, designs etc.
