The history of typefaces goes long back to the 15th century. Inspired initially by the handwritten notes and letters of individuals, the western font soon was picked up and modified or invented by newspapers or magazine groups like Broadway, New York Times and many more to name.

It soon became popular among the major IT giants when Apple and Microsoft developed few of the western fonts and added it to their list.

Every time we see a poster, any logo, comic book page, etc., we are either captured by the attractive images or the self-defining fonts. Fonts not only convey messages but using the right font can convey the very emotions, attitude and tone of the information posted.

Western fonts are constructed with impressive serifs and many varieties of decoration which are best suited for printing materials such as menus, invitations, posters, and headlines. We will explore some western font examples further in this article.
