One of the most successful detergent brands is Tide. The company behind it is the well known Procter & Gamble. At the moment, it is the number one detergent brand in the US.
This is not only due to Tide ads but also to their long history and high-quality products. It was first introduced in the market in 1946 as the first heavy-duty detergent. Since 2013 Tide has more than 30% of the liquid-detergent market and more than double sales that the second brand gain. However, its price is also higher, usually being 50% more than the regular liquid detergent.
Tide ads history
If you look at all the tide ad strategy, we can see that they are quite aggressive in marketing and advertising. Promotions always play an essential role in a competitive market. This is because usually, you use them to make a customer loyal to the brand.
Tide ads always touch their audience using a realistic display and great stories. Their primary focus is to reach homemakers and families. Besides the classic TV commercials, they also do a lot of print advertisements and social media campaigns. So the brand is being exposed to different mediums. This, for sure, leads to better exposure, and most of the time, it reaches the people that want to purchase this product.
Tide Ads Examples
It’s a Tide Ad
This Tide super bowl commercial is one of the most creative done so far. It was run during the 2018 Super Bowl and made fun of all Super Bowl commercials related to cars, jewelry, and more. The idea behind it was to tell the audience that basically no matter what add you watch, it’s a tide ad. How do you know that?
Well, you have to look at the clean clothes. The montage of the scenes makes this ad a fun one.
Tide: Laundry Night
Research has shown that laundry night is reserved for Sunday in the US. Having this information, P&G created one of their Tide ads by telling a story. They used quarterback Peyton Manning to announce that Sunday nights are not for laundry and that this has been shifted to Tuesday night.
However, the popular show called “The Voice” airs each Tuesday night in the US. Judge Gwen Stefani opposes this move. The way this Tide add combines popular culture is creative, and they did a great job with it.
‘Ultra Oxi for Stains “No One Did”‘
A dad wakes up and figures that his kids always use “I didn’t do it.” Still, stains seem to appear in the house and on their clothes. He uses Tide PODS with ultra OXI that help him get those stains out of his family’s clothing.
Social Stain Remover
Tide partnered with Google Chrome in one of their ads. What they did was they offered a downloadable extension that lets users remove any harmful content from their social media newsfeed. The original part was the message that Tide doesn’t help you make just your clothes a bit brighter.
The text on the ad was: Tide-To-Go is online to remove the negative stains on your timeline. You can focus on the brighter things, like cat memes and cooking videos.
Tide Purclean TV Commercial, ‘Switch’
Tide ads like this one are creative and bring the values of the brand in front of the viewer. We can see a couple that sings when they fold their clothes. They encourage us to switch to a detergent made with plants, and the male sais it gets stains out of their kid’s pants. Purclean is described as the first plant-based detergent that has the cleaning power of Tide.
THE TIDE POD CHALLENGE CONTROVERSY
Gronk knows that Tide PODs are for DOING LAUNDRY. Nothing else.
What should Tide PODs be used for? DOING LAUNDRY. Nothing else.Eating a Tide POD is a BAD IDEA, and we asked our friend Rob Gronkowski -Gronk to help explain.
Posted by Tide on Friday, January 12, 2018
At the beginning of 2018, before it’s a tide ad commercial, this one was quite popular as well. It showed the dark side of viral trends; the Tide Pod challenge showed people making videos while biting or eating the detergent pods.
Even though the company had nothing to do with this trend, they managed to avert the crisis. What they did was to tell challenges to call poison control and by sharing a video with the well known Robert “Grong” Gronkowski.
Studio by Tide TV Commercial, ‘Bold Move’
Tide believes that having a red dress on the first day of a new job is quite a bold move. The detergent manufacturer says that having the same dress the next day is even a more daring move. To fight fading clothes, the brand asks to use its Studio detergent.
Matrix of Dirt
Other Tide ads that we like are the ones make in this style. We can see that in the Matrix of Dirt, dirt attacks your garment, and it is quite hard to be removed. Anybody would be happy to get some help and be able to remove it entirely.
Tide Absolute is the Neo of this dirt and provides the best protection for your clothes. It has a shield protection formula that makes it hard for dirt to get on clothes. This was a creative ad that even got its poster being put to other real movie posters.
Stain Love clothes
This tide advertisement is excellent and sent out the message of the company to its targeted users. The tagline is “Because stains love your clothes” works great with the theme of this advertisement campaign.
Sunday Is Coming
A man that is watching the announcement notices that Mark Ingram is next to his house. The man figures out that actually, the running back is asking him to do the laundry using Tide before Sunday. Doing so means that he can watch the game uninterrupted.
Give Up Pants
Tide ads are also funny a lot of times. In this one, we can see it being open with two men dressed elegant standing in a hotel room. They are waiting for a friend to go out of the city. When he arrives, he has a suit jacket and tight sweat pants. His friends try to convince him to change clothing by showing a giant smudge on his clothing choice.
The defiant friend takes a Tide to Go stick from his pocket and makes the stain disappear before going out.
Tide PODS Free & Gentle TV Commercial, ‘For Super Heroes With Sensitive Skin’
Emma works all the time to rescue stuffed animals from peril. As she is a superhero, she sleeps in her cape. The fabric must be soft and gentle as she has sensitive skin. Her father uses Tide Free & Gentle to take care of her.
No Problem with Pods
Tide pods are high-speed, and compared with another laundry detergent, you don’t waste any time.
‘The In-Laws’
Tide ads that feature family situations are probably the best to describe their product. In this one, we can see how a couple folds laundry and try to convince us how happy they are.
They fold granny panties and kids underwear while explaining their detergent history. With Tide, they can clean three generations of clothes with no problems.
