HR-FM is a Japanese artist specialized in digital vector images. His art, originally inspired by his work in the comic industry, is clear, dramatic and vibrant, often depicting semi-apocalyptic urban scenes in which time plays a key role. Each image is divided into a kaleidoscope of color, yet remains coherent as a whole.
HR-FM incorporates the concept of ‘the future fossil’ into every piece. By using incompatible time based concepts, such as a fully suited space-man playing a rock guitar while floating on the outskirts of a distant planet, or a diver discovering a modern Japanese city on the ocean floor, HR-FM seeks to surprise and delight his audience.
He aims to produce ‘the fossil which future people may dig’. The Hollywood movie ‘Back to the Future’ was one of the inspirations behind his time anomaly work.
Sugimoto (his real name) is currently exploring acrylics and the creation of t-shirt designs. His vibrant, colorful vector images are created using an Apple Mac and a WACOM tablet.
