Design your way

It is important to be aware of the fact that the design of a website can mean a lot. It only takes a few minor UI modifications to an existing platform to create a bigger and better first impression.

It is still very common for internet users to look for standard form interfaces when they want to interact with the website. This is why it is so important to include well designed forms within your website.

Of similar value is the log in box which new visitors will use to register with your website, sign up for a weekly or monthly newsletter, or subscribe to a mailing list. In other words, input fields and other form interfaces can be an essential tool for your business – good form design is invaluable.

Whilst they tend to be under-appreciated, web based forms and interfaces are usually the real stars of high quality landing pages. They are the focal point for all the data provided by leads and purchasers and they allow you to start pushing both of these targets further down the sales funnel.

The success and quality of your website will inevitably affect the number of sales and conversions that you receive. In terms of web forms, it is a good idea to err on the side of brevity and convenience – visitors like the simplicity of web forms and form snippets, but they do not want to spend a long time filling them out and submitting them.

On the other hand, there is some evidence to suggest that slightly longer forms lead to higher quality leads, so it is worth trying to get a nice balance between brevity and valuable content. They should be easy to use and fairly visible, but not to the point of being annoying. They should be simple to navigate, but never dull to interact with.

If you adhere to these guidelines, you should begin to see your conversion numbers soar. It is time to disregard the traditional ‘point and click’ interface, because good form design is everything. The next time that you need to design engaging information or an online form, or create some interesting form code snippets, think about more than just adding some fancy CSS gimmicks.
