Photoshop Actions are one of the most essential tools in Photoshop. Photoshop action lets you record anything you do, such as resize, rotate, apply filter and much more and allows you to later apply the same action to other files. Follow the steps provided in this tutorial to create actions in Photoshop. Please note that this is a Photoshop tutorial for beginners. Steps to create actions in Photoshop

1. First of all open Adobe Photoshop. We are using Adobe Photoshop CS5.5 but this also works on earlier or later versions.

2. Now we will create a Photoshop action. You may create Photoshop actions for anything like re-sizing image size, rotate and more. Here, we will create an action to flip your image. First, we will have to apply it to a single image. Later, the same action will be used for other images. To open image, click File >> Open and then select the image file and click Open.

5. Next, on the menu bar, click Image >> Image Rotation >> Flip Canvas Horizontal. Instead of flip, you can use other commands like rotate, apply filter or anything else that you want to automate by using Photoshop actions.

6. Next, on the action panel click on the Stop button. At this point you need to stop the action that is being recorded. If you do not stop it, then all the steps you do after this point will also be recorded. In this tutorial, we are only flipping the image. If you want to auto-close image the image in addition to flipping it, you can click stop button after closing the image.

7. Open any other image where you want to apply the Photoshop action we have just created. Then open action panel by clicking Window >> Actions. Locate the action we have created (flipping) and click on the ‘Play Selection’ button. As soon as you click Play Selection button, the action we have recorded i.e flipping image will be applied automatically. This completes our tutorial on how to create actions in Photoshop.
