Content always has to be developed in such a way that it is able to be viewed and interacted with on a multitude of screen sizes. It’s no secret that handheld mobile devices are becoming essential throughout our daily lives, and people are always constantly moving from device to device because of one reason or another.

Because of this, they also expect all of their services and products to look the same on every platform. Many individuals always expect an experience that is pleasant across all devices regardless of the screen size that they have, which makes designing multi-device experiences a top priority for most web designers.

There are a few different things to consider as well when planning a great experience for all devies, which include the following: any amount of time and money needed, if older browsers will be involved, performance level, various types of content, web app vs. website, the overall design and development process itself, the different screen sizes and resolutions, any new devices that are involved, such as televisions and watches.

There are also some great benefits that can come as a results of forward planning, which can include the following. There is really no need whatsoever to develop more than one different version of your website, as one single structure will be able to adapt to virtually any kind of mobile device.

When you maintain one single website, the cost will be less expensive and will also save you a great deal of time. With a responsive website, you will be able to ensure that your website displays correctly on all kinds of mobile devices.

And with the latest changes Google made in its algorithm, with a responsive website, you will end up seeing an increase in exposure and traffic on the internet, as well as higher mobile search rankings.

When you design a website for multiple mobile devices, there is much more involved than simply resizing all of your content to be able to display correctly on different screens. Perhaps the most important thing to consider is exactly how your content changes when you go from one screen to the next.

In other words, you have to concentrate on exactly how your content gets resized in regards to all types of orientations. This means that you will need to do whatever is necessary to develop a good and effective strategy that will target many different many different devices and screen sizes.

It’s no secret that each and every mobile device does something different. Some are good at doing certain things, while others lack in performance. It’s important for you to come to terms with how a mobile user will use the product in various types of contexts because these kinds of individuals want a different kind of experience than what desktop users are generally provided.

The overall user experience needs to be maximized on all different kinds of devices in order to make people believe that the application they’re using was actually developed for their specific device instead of just being stretched to fit the specific screen size.

When it comes to constructing any kind of website using responsive web design, the best thing to do is to code everything starting from the mobile version of the website before moving up to more tablets and then move to laptop or desktop screens.

By taking this route, you will allow all of the different code breakpoints to become completely content dependent rather than device dependent. In addition, you will also be able to implement an additional amount of functionality to assist with all of the increased capabilities of devices that are larger in size.

If you are dealing with a display that is smaller than breakpoints of the lowest size (e.g. wearables), then you will need to consider a much more condensed range of type sizes. This is where you will want to have a typographic system in place that is able to absorb all of the different demands of any new contexts.

Smart TVs, maybe?

One of the biggest questions being asked today is whether or not individuals want to do their shopping through a big screen. Additionally, it could also be asked exactly how they want to shop as well, which is important if they actually do want to shop through a big screen.

This then leads to another question: should a website be scaled to fit a large television screen?

It’s no secret that a vast variety of mobile devices, whether they are smartphones or tablets, are used to access the internet every single day. With all of the different qualities that they possess, many different companies have created separate experiences for various types of newer devices.

However, the good news is that you absolutely do not need to access a bunch of different websites in order to have a great user experience across multiple devices.

Instead, you only need to worry about creating one single website that has a great multi-device design; however, this is something that requires a completely different way of designing and developing altogether. Responsive design is the key.
