Design your way

Monday, September 2, 2013

When you’re developing a web app, one thing that has a huge impact on the overall visual aesthetic and the usability are the icons that you choose. Beautifully designed icons can, of course, help to make the entire app look more polished, while easy-to-understand icons help to make the user experience much more fluid and obvious, which makes it much easier to navigate around. Ultimately, the right icons can make a huge difference to your app’s ease of use and visual style, and so it’s important to get it right.

But designing icons can also be quite hard. They’re small and fiddly and it takes a very talented designer to create something that’s both usable and beautiful. Fortunately for us, there are a ton of talented designers out there who have kindly put together icon sets that look great, and that could very well suit your next app beautifully.

We’ve collected some of our favorite examples of fresh, creative and stylish icons that are all available for free – although please do check the license agreement first if you’re planning on using them in your own project.

If you know of any other icons that deserve a mention, we’d love to hear about them in the comments!
