When visiting a website, the first element a viewer’s eyes focus on is the header image. The header image can make or break a viewers impression of the site. Designers have been putting great importance on the header image and its ability to increase a seamless flow to a site.
Does the image represent the site and add to the viewer’s experience? If not then the viewer may move on to another site they find more visually appealing and credible.
The header image needs to flow with the site’s design and purpose. It should complete the site’s layout and compliment other elements allowing for the viewer to have an enjoyable experience, which in turn keeps the viewer coming back and potentially sharing the site with friends.
The design of the header should be visually appealing and assist the viewer in navigating the site. Header images that are bland or overpowering can cause the viewer to feel out of place and confused about the sites intended purpose.
