If you are considering redesigning your portfolio or you have a site to make for a client and you expect some downtime, the normal thing to do is to tell the visitors in a nice way that the site will not be available for a small period of time and not just leave them with no information. Leaving no information will make you look bad and may cause a loss of visitors/customers. You can notify your visitors of your downtime in a proper way with the help of an under construction or coming soon page, as some may call it.

Besides using this coming soon page for a downtime period, you can use it before launching a website and advertise the page, as long as you are leaving a form for visitors to subscribe to future news regarding the site. In this way you will build a fan base even before launching the actual site.

I have created this list to provide inspiration for those of you who want to design such a page and code it in HTML, but for the ones who don’t necessarily want to be inspired, the under construction pages are also available for download as templates.
