Design agencies are usually multidisciplinary doing almost all the work that there is for a product or a company, but there are also agencies which are focused only on advertising, marketing, web design, graphic design, VFX etc. The multidisciplinary ones have developed this way because most clients want to have their work done in the same place, with the same design agency instead of doing a logo with a designer, the website with another etc.
If you ever considered working in a creative agency you should know some of the pros and cons of doing that. First of all, consider the workload. On one hand, you will have projects one after another and that means your skills will get better faster. On the other hand, too much work can be exhausting at a certain point.
Freelancing can be really annoying sometimes because you are working alone. In an agency, you have a lot of colleagues and if you have a good team which works good together, then everything runs smoothly and working in an office becomes really fun.
The big advantage that I can find about working in an agency is that you have a full time job, you don’t have to worry much about the job security and you can get a paid leave. Comparing to the life of a freelancer, that’s heaven.
Another huge advantage is that you don’t have to do all the work for a project. While you are working on the client’s website, someone else could be working on the logo and another person on the social media marketing etc.
I created this article with hopefully most of the great design agencies in the UK for the freelancers in UK who would want to work for an agency. Most of them are based in London but there are a few who are scattered around the United Kingdom. I don’t know if this is necessarily a problem, cause they could accept a full time employee even if you are working at home. After all, with all these project management and collaboration apps, people can work together even if they are not in the same office.
