At the beginning of every year we see an article with that year’s web design trends on almost every design blog and every one of those articles looks nice because it talks about the newest features that designers are using on the websites they’re working on.
However, the difference between those so called prophecies and that year’s reality is quite big and not in a disappointing way. The reality is that the websites that have been launched/redesigned in 2013, for example, are exceeding the expectations of every one of those “this year’s web design trend” articles.
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t have anything against those articles, I actually think they’re doing a great work by making popular certain web design techniques that aren’t known by every designer. Still, trying to guess which trends will take off during a year is pretty far fetched. Look at flat design; people where ignoring it at the end of last year and now it’s the main discussion subject between designers.
Technology is advancing and advancing fast. This applies to web design too and we should be watching the way other designers are creating their websites, otherwise we might not catch the wave and we will be left behind.
This article is a showcase of websites with beautiful and modern layouts, which should be an inspiration to us all that are web designers and want to deliver the best to our clients.
