Some of the myths behind the origins of the Porsche logo focus on two different aspects. One is that after the meeting of Ferdinand Porsche with the automotive engineer Max Hoffman there were demands made for a graphic element. They say he just drew it there at the meeting and Ferdinand Porsche accepted that suggestion.

The second myth is different. Actually, Ferdinand Porsche did not consider the graphic element to be important. However, after he met with Hoffman he asked Franz Xaver to create a logo. The engineer didn’t have any kind of design skills but he created the sign that we all know.

We said that in the center of the logo you can see a horse. Stuttgart is in South Germany and it was built around a horse-breeding farm. This is why Porsche was inspired to keep this idea in its logo. They kept a black horse as the main element.

The idea of choosing the Porsche logo started in the 50s. The son of Ferdinand, Ferry Porsche decided to create this powerful identity symbol. There were no reasons to not keep the traditional elements so they went for them.

The lettering has been trimmed over the years together with small changes to the shape of the horse. Porsche fans know that nothing big has really changed in the last 50 years.

After its long history, the Porsche badge is still a powerful symbol. It shows what a truly powerful car should look like and it sits proudly on all their new models. We can say that Porsche did a great job of keeping its logo consistent.
