Whenever I hear a client asking me to create a black business card because he thinks it will look cool I get a little nervous because I know what he doesn’t, the fact that if you mess up the design of a black business card you end up having a card that looks like it was made for a funeral home… which is really bad, unless the client owns a funeral home.

Creating a black business card, like I said, isn’t easy unless you take into account a few things. First of all, you have to add a little color to the business card. You can try white so that you will balance the two colors; you can use red if you want to be aggressive or various bright colors. Some cards don’t need this if they have a unique layout or style that makes it look good, for example letterpress cards.
